Privacy Policy
Last updated: 30 October 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how LOCUS ("LOCUS", "we", "us", or "our"), available at locusboard.uk, handles information when you use our whiteboard and organisation application (the "App") and this website (the "Site").
1. Information We Collect
Account information. When you sign in using Google Sign-In, we receive basic profile information from your Google account, such as your name, email address, and profile picture, as permitted by your Google account settings.
Board content. The whiteboards, notes, and organisational content you create are stored locally on your device by default. If you enable cloud sync, your board content is stored in your own Google Drive account — not on our servers.
Website analytics. The Site does not currently use analytics, advertising trackers, or cookies beyond what is technically required to serve the pages.
2. How We Use Google User Data
LOCUS uses Google Sign-In solely to authenticate you and, with your explicit permission, to sync your boards with your Google Drive. Specifically:
- We request access to your basic Google profile (name and email address) to identify your account within the App.
- We request access to Google Drive limited to files and folders created by the App
(the
drive.filescope), so that LOCUS can save, read, and update only its own sync files in your Drive. - We do not read, scan, or access any other files in your Google Drive.
- We do not sell, rent, share, or transfer your Google user data to any third party, and we do not use it for advertising or profiling.
- Google user data is never used to train machine-learning or AI models.
LOCUS's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
3. Data Storage and Security
Your boards remain on your device and, if sync is enabled, in your own Google Drive account. We do not operate servers that store your board content. Authentication tokens are stored locally on your device and are never transmitted to us or any third party.
4. Data Retention and Deletion
Because your data is stored on your device and in your own Google Drive, you control it entirely. You can delete your boards at any time from within the App or directly in Google Drive. You can revoke LOCUS's access to your Google account at any time via your Google account permissions page. Revoking access immediately stops all syncing.
5. Third-Party Services
The only third-party service the App integrates with is Google (Google Sign-In and Google Drive). Your use of those services is also governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
6. Children's Privacy
LOCUS is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
8. Your Rights
If you are in the UK or EEA, you have rights under data protection law, including the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Since your content is held on your device and in your own Google Drive, most of these rights can be exercised directly by you at any time.
